Cardiology — Unique heart surgeries
At the end of 2021, two unique surgeries were performed at the Hadassah clinic. For the first time in the world, the cardiologists of the clinic performed simultaneous aortic aneurysm stenting and mitral valve replacement. The procedures were carried out by the leading specialists of the clinic: the Head of the Cardiac Catheterization Department, Dr. David Planer, Dr. Gabi Albaz-Griner, and the Head of the Invasive Radiology Department, Prof. Alain Bloom. In November 2021, the Hadassah clinic performed the world-first surgery, which includes the simultaneous treatment of arrhythmia with ablation and mitral valve correction. The surgery lasted less than 3 hours. The mitral valve correction was carried out by Dr. David Planer, Head of the Cardiac Catheterization Unit, and the leading specialists of the department, Dr. Gabi Albaz-Griner and Dr. Eldad Rahamim (in the background of the photo). The ablation was provided by Dr. Yitzhak Biton (in the foreground of the photo).
